New Hull Students Join the Dutton Moore Team

Top grade school leavers have been hand-picked from a local college to join Dutton Moore’s in-house accountancy training scheme.

Lewis Durrant, Sophie Robinson and James Hamilton, all ex-Wyke College students, are the latest new starters to join the team at Dutton Moore Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers in Market Place, Hull.

Lewis, 19, has joined the team after completing an AS Level in Accounting. James, 19, joins the team after completing A Levels in Business, Law, Maths and Accounting and Sophie, 18 has completed A Levels in Maths, Law and Accounting. All are now trainee accountants.

Alongside their training and exams their roles will include producing year end statements, VAT returns, assisting on audits, produce working papers and tax work.

These new arrivals come as Dutton Moore celebrates current trainee’s exam success. Sophie Plaschke has completed her Level 4 AAT and has begun her Chartered Accountants exams and Jake Allen has completed his Level 3 AAT exams.

Dutton Moore has a long history of investing in young local talent and has an enviable in-house training scheme backed up by the professional examinations. Many of Dutton Moore’s accountants, including some Partners, joined Dutton Moore straight from school, college and university and have gone on to forge very successful careers at the city centre practice and in industry.

Tony Bullock, Managing Partner, said: “We are constantly investing in our future. It’s good to stay local and work with local people – we have the talent here and it’s important to harness it. Investing in our city and ultimately in our firm is a priority to us at Dutton Moore. We want to give the jobs we have available to people on our doorstep. The calibre of students historically has been very good and we are pleased to welcome these new team members as they forge out successful careers with us.”

James commented: “I’m really pleased to have been given this opportunity. It’s an excellent alternative for me than going down the university path. I will ultimately end up with the same job and qualifications – this is just a quicker route to getting into my chosen career – and it doesn’t saddle me with the costs that university would inevitably involve.”

Sophie added: “I feel as though I am getting on with my career straight away and I’m really pleased about my decision and to have this fantastic opportunity at one of the city’s most respected accountancy firms.”
