Tony Bullock has joined the Board of Trustees
8 September 2015

Our Managing Partner Tony Bullock has joined the Board of Trustees for Hull's Ron Dearing University Technical College (UTC). He joins other leading business names in the city including the KCOM Group, Siemens and C Spencer Ltd.

Welcome to our New Partners

Tony is chairing the Finance Working Group which is responsible for the management and administration of the pre-opening grant, which is drawn down by the Trust from the Department of Education on a quarterly basis.

The UTC will be based at the old fire station in Hull city centre and is a state-funded academy focused on technical skills for students aged 14-18. UTCs have a longer school day, typically 8.30am-5pm and have catchment areas that may extend across a number of local authority areas.

The Hull UTC is named after Lord Ron Dearing of Kingston upon Hull, who was born and educated in the city and went on to become a senior civil servant and Chairman of the Post Office. He died in 2009.

It will have two specialisms; Digital Technology and Mechatronics. Mechatronics is defined as, a combination of mechanical, electrical, telecommunication, control and computer engineering. It will be led by employers and the university. All students will be assigned business mentors from the employer sponsors to provide business insight into their future employment routes.

Tony is delighted to be a part of specialist training within this city for future skill sets of local students.
