A further two top grade school leavers have been hand-picked from Wyke College to join Dutton Moore's in-house accountancy training scheme.
Sophie Plaschke, 18, and Jake Allen, 17, both from West Hull, have joined the team at Dutton Moore Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers in Aldgate House, Market Place, Hull.
Both studied Maths and Accountancy A-Levels at Wyke College and both have now gone onto the Kaplan accountancy training programme at the firm.
Sophie and Jake are the latest in years of progressive succession planning at the firm with new school leavers joining every summer, the last being Jack Cunningham from Cottingham High School and Joe Bolton from South Holderness Technology College, who joined the firm last summer.
Dutton Moore has a long history of investing in young local talent and has an enviable in-house training scheme backed up by the professional industry examinations. Scores of accountants and Partners at Dutton Moore joined straight from school, college and university and have gone on to forge very successful careers at the city centre practice. Tony Bullock, Managing Partner, said: "We are delighted to welcome Sophie and Jake to our team and watch their qualifications and careers develop and flourish with us.
"We are constantly investing in our future. It's important to stay local and work with local people – we have the talent here and it's important to harness it. Investing in our city and ultimately in our firm is a priority for us at Dutton Moore. Wherever possible we want to give the jobs we have available to people on our doorstep. The calibre of students historically has been very good and we are pleased to welcome the two new team members as they forge out successful careers with us."
Sophie commented: "I'm really pleased to have been given this opportunity. It's an excellent alternative for me than going down the university path. I will ultimately end up with the same job and qualifications – this is just a quicker route to getting into my chosen career – and it doesn't saddle me with the costs that university would inevitably involve."
Jake added: "I feel as though I am getting on with my career straight away and I'm really pleased about my decision and to have this fantastic opportunity at one of the city's most respected accountancy firms."
