Dutton Moore accountant takes up new role as President of the Humberside and District Society of Chartered Accountants... with a key message to keep business local.
Our very own John Gilleard has been inaugurated as the new President of the Humberside and District Society of Chartered Accountants (HDSCA).
A Partner at Dutton Moore Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, John has worked at the large city centre practice for 33 years and been a Partner for the past 13 years.
A well-known face in the world of accountancy in this city, John has taken over the reins from Jane Mather (SWAT UK) at the Society’s AGM held at the Willerby Manor Hotel last month. During his year in office, he hopes to promote the advice and skills which chartered accountants can offer local businesses to help create growth and employment.
John, who lives in Beverley, was born in Hull and attended Hymers College before spending a year at college in Hull completing the Accountancy Foundation Course. He joined Dutton Moore, one of the largest independent firms of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers in Yorkshire, in 1979 as a young trainee.
John commented: “I have had a long career in accountancy and proof that a young person can work their way through the ranks from a trainee accountant to a Partner of a big regional firm.
“I am proud to work in Hull – we have real talent right on our doorsteps and it’s important to nurture that. It’s essential for local and regional businesses to do business together too and that is something I will be keeping key to my message throughout the coming year.”
John has now accumulated over 30 years of experience working with the SME sector. This ranges from advising start-ups, which have been nurtured from one-man operations to multi-million pound businesses, to audit and corporate finance work for much larger, established groups. John also has extensive experience in specialised audits such as charities and solicitors and is a member of the ICAEW special interest groups for both.
Tony Bullock, Managing Partner at Dutton Moore, commented: “I have worked with John for more than 30 years and know his professionalism and dedication to his role as Partner here at Dutton Moore. His experience is invaluable and I am proud that he is representing our firm in a lead role in this Society.”
John begins his role with a seminar at the Village Hotel in Hessle on 26th June, during the ICAEW’s Business Advice Week. He continued: “I am looking forward to the 12-months ahead and making a real contribution to the accountancy occupation in this region.”
