Steve Rossington retires from Dutton Moore after 38 years service to the firm and the business community

Joint managing partner Steve Rossington FCA FCCA retires today (30th June, 2009) after 38-years of hard work and dedication to one of the largest independent firms of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers in Yorkshire.

Steve is one of East Yorkshire's most respected figures in the business community, having a wealth of experience in nearly every area of commerce. With a particular emphasis on owner-managed companies, Steve has specialised in pension and tax planning, exit and succession strategies and buy-in/buy-out transactions.

Steve is being joined today by 150 colleagues from City Centre practice Dutton Moore and business associates from around the city to bid him farewell at his retirement function.

Steve joined Dutton Moore on Monday 15th February 1971, at the age of 18. “I remember the date clearly because it was decimalisation day!” said Steve. “How things have moved on from that point.”

After leaving Hull Grammar with A Levels, his father who knew Dudley Moore, the then managing partner, arranged an interview for him. “I had my interview on the Friday and I started on the Monday. My interview was in the very room next door to which has been my office for the past three decades.”

Steve signed his five-year articles in June 1971. In May 1977 he was admitted into the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, of which he is now a Fellow. He is also Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

In1977 he became Dudley Moore's personal assistant. By 1982 he became an associate in the firm and in 1987 a partner. He has been leading the firm with co- joint managing partner Tony Bullock since 1998.

“I have had a long, varied and enjoyable career in accountancy with Dutton Moore,” added Steve. “I have worked with so many people and businesses around Hull and East Yorkshire and many colleagues and partners in business I shall miss. Dutton Moore has provided me with an amazing and interesting career. To work in such a well established and highly reputable firm has been a privilege.”

Tony Bullock, joint managing partner at the City Centre accountants, today leads the praise to his long-time business partner. “We are sad to see Steve go - he has given long and dedicated service to the firm and he shall be missed not only by staff but by countless people in the business community that he has served.

“Dutton Moore carries on - business as normal - but Steve will be missed and we thank him for his years of service and hard work which has made a strong contribution to the successful firm that we are today.”

Steve will be returning to Dutton Moore for two-days a week as a consultant. “I have retired - but in order to provide a smooth transition for all our clients I will be returning as a consultant. I will also be doing some travelling with my wife, golf and taking tennis back up, if the old legs are up for it!”
